HCM CITY — Belgian conductor Daniel Gazon will perform in HCM City this weekend.
He will collaborate with the HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera to perform Beethoven’s Symphony No 7.
Born in 1955 in Waimes, Gazon graduated in the trumpet and doublebass from the Conservatoire Royal de Liege in 1977. He began to study conducting in 1978 under Professors Igor Markevich and Max Deutsch.
He then went to the Tanglewood Music Centre in Massachusetts, the US, where he worked with well-known conductors like Seiji Ozawa, Kurt Masur and Joseph Silverstein.
He has worked with many major orchestras in Belgium and abroad, including the Polish Radio Orchestra, Slovak Radio Orchestra, and Philharmonic Orchestra of Cracow.
He has a vast symphonic and operatic repertoire and is widely recognised as one of the foremost specialists in the 20th century repertoire.
He has also worked as a teacher in music schools and conservatories in Belgium, Slovakia and Sweden.
The 90-minute show will open with Belgian music, P.Gilson’s Fanfare Inaugurale, and L.Mortelmans’s Morgenstem-ming.
The concert will take place tomorrow at the HCM City Opera House, 7 Lam Son Square, District 1. Tickets, costing VND100,000 to 200,000, are available at the theatre. — VNS
