Dung Quat refinery re-opens after shutdown
QUANG NGAI — The Dung Quat Oil Refinery re-opened for operations on Wednesday after a 20-day shutdown to check technical problems not fixed during the trial run.
The system checks were conducted under Government supervision. The plant is expected to run at full capacity by January 21. As part of the reopening, the plant management organised a fire drill.
Pig iron mill fires up after one-month test run
HAI PHONG — Song Da steel ingot mill has officially gone into operation after one month’s test run. The plant which was equipped with technology from Teachint, Italy, has a total investment capital of VND964 billion (US$53 million) and a capacity of 450,000 tonnes of steel ingot per year.
Up to 8,000 firms to lodge tax returns online
HA NOI — Up to 8,000 enterprises will pay tax via the internet this year, according to the General Department of Taxation.
HCM City and Ha Noi have 3,000 enterprises each and the remainder are from other provinces and cities. Online tax returns will reduce time and costs for all parties.
ABBank posts $23 million profit in 2009
HA NOI — An Binh Bank posted VND415 billion (US$23.05 million) profit last year.
ABBank total assets reached VND26.576 billion ($1.47 billion) and its mobilisation capital last year reached more than VND12 trillion ($667 million). This year, the bank plans to grow by 30-40 per cent and reach VND550 billion ($30.5 million) in profit and VND35 trillion ($1.94 billion) in total assets.
Universities integrate Oracle software into curricula
HCM CITY — Universities across Viet Nam are rapidly integrating the Oracle Academy into their curricula, with more than 1,700 students now benefiting from the industry-leading IT training programme.
The numbers showed significant growth since its beginning last year when Oracle Viet Nam and the Ministry of Education and Training agreed to integrate the Oracle Academy into 25 State-owned universities.
The Oracle Academy is now expanding to welcome all universities in Viet Nam to join. Oracle Viet Nam recently hosted information sessions in Ha Noi and HCM City. — VNS
