Local firms use internet to penetrate new markets

HA NOI — Vietnamese enterprises now have a chance to promote products in APEC and African markets using the internet and web pages as result of a co-operation agreement signed yesterday.

The agreement was between the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Alibaba.com, a business-to-business e-commerce company which was founded in China in 1999 and has more than 8.6 million registered users in 240 countries and regions, including Viet Nam with more than 100,000 members.

Also involved is the OSB Joint Stock Company, Alibaba’s authorised reseller in Viet Nam.

Under the framework of the programme, 100 Viet Nam enterprises will be selected and supported in using e-commerce tools on Alibaba.com to expose products, search for partners and close deals with partners from foreign markets.

In additon, the chamber, Alibaba.com andthe OSB will organise training courses and seminars to upgrade knowledge, skills and e-commerce application experience.

The chamber and its partners, including 10 municipal and provincial department of information and communications, also signed a co-operation agreement on e-commerce yesterday in Ha Noi.

The agreement covers building and developing e-commerce market places for local enterprises, support with the copyright of software for enterprises and promoting the application of open-source software in local areas.

Such co-operation is one of the Government’s national schemes to support enterprises in e-commerce application during the period of intergration and development to enhance competitiveness. — VNS
