HA NOI — The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced the Golden Lotus-winning productions will be shown at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival in Taiwan.

Don’t Burn; Adrift and Moon at the Bottom of the Well, and two documentaries A Song on Ta Nung Mountain and Prayer, will all be shown at the festival, beginning tomorrow in Kaosiung City.

Director Nguyen Vinh Son, actor Hoang Cao De and actress Minh Huong will be in Taiwan for the event.

The movies Don’t Burn and Adrift won the Golden Lotus for Best Film and Best Director at the 16th Viet Nam National Film Festival in HCM City last week.

Don’t Burn, directed by Dang Nhat Minh, won the Audience Award at the Fukuoka International Film Festival in September, and Adrift, directed by Bui Thac Chuyen, won the International Film Critic’s Prize at the 2009 Venice Film Festival.

The Asia-Pacific Film Festival was first held in 1954 by the Federation of Motion Picture Producers in Asia (FPA). The 21 FPA members take annual turns organising the event.

The 45th Asia-Pacific Film Festival was held in Ha Noi in 2000, in which Viet Nam won the Best Film for Sand Life, and Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards for Mai Hoa and Hong Anh. — VNS
